Chargers can’t deal Jackson

The San Diego Chargers have reached an impasse in their efforts to trade disgruntled wide receiver Vincent Jackson.

The team was intially reluctant to trade Jackson but then decided to allow him and his agent to actively seek an interested team.

There have been some inquiries and interest from other NFL teams, but the Chargers have not been overly impressed with the return they would receive.

Jackson also hasn’t helped his trade chances because his contract demands are turning just about everyone off to the idea of trading for him. ( Read More…)

Chargers trying to deal Jackson

The San Diego Chargers have stepped up their efforts to potentially trade away wide receiver Vincent Jackson.

Jackson will miss the first four games because of a suspension handed down by the NFL for violating the league’s substance abuse policy.

The Chargers are concerned about Jackson’s comments that he will sit out the first 10 games to protest his contract situation.

The wideout wants a new deal after showing he was the star wideout the past two seasons, but San Diego is tired of their own players jerking them around. ( Read More…)

Chargers give Gates five-year deal

The San Diego Chargers have rewarded tight end Antonio Gates with a five-year contract extension worth $36 million.

Since making the transition from college basketball to pro football, Gates has been one of the top tight ends in the league.

His unique blend of size and speed has caused matchup problems all over the field for opposing defenses.

Gates has slowed in recent years as he has been trouble by foot and toe injuries. ( Read More…)

Chargers could trade Jackson

The San Diego Chargers are willing to trade troubled wide receiver Vincent Jackson.

Jackson is suspended for the first three games of the season and is threatening to sit out to protest his contract situation.

The fact that Jackson has issues with the substance abuse policy could make it hard to trade him.

Then again, Jackson’s tremendous talent and relative youth are both big selling points for teams looking for a playmaker. ( Read More…)

Jackson suspended 3 games

San Diego Chargers wide receiver Vincent Jackson has been suspended three games by the NFL.

Jackson violated the league’s substance abuse policy yet again by pleading guilty to another DUI.

The star wide receiver is currently unhappy over his contract with the Chargers and threatening to sit out the first 10 games. ( Read More…)
